A little bit about WESP
This union was formed in 1972 by a group of employees who wanted to have a better working environment in Washoe County School District. This small group of employees stepped up to the plate fought hard and made history for the education support professionals and for this reason you as a member and employee have had a contract for over 35 years. WESP continues to work hard on many issues to the satisfaction of the members involved. Several prevented terminations, demotions, and severe disciplines have favored your members and that is why WESP is committed to getting the best results for the members. WESP is the exclusive bargaining agent and proudly continues representing its members on a daily basis.

WESP is here for you and it begins with our Officers and Executive Board. These positions are elected positions chosen by you and are here to represent your voice to the Washoe County School district. Each Officer and Executive Board member accepted their positions with the understanding that it is strictly voluntary and reaps no monitary benifits. From there additional committees where created and these committees branch out to include members like you. Combined with new faces, new energy, and fresh ideas, WESP is changing to help provide it's members with the best support possible.

Our Committees designed for it's members

Four committees have been designed to help establish a stronger and supportive union. These committees welcome the assistance of members like you and encourage you to get involved. The four committees are:

  • Administration
  • Complaints and Grievances
  • Membership
  • Communications
